The Girl Who Waited for the Train

I met her today
while I was waiting for the train.
She is still young,
not even twenty.

I asked her calmly
"Are you waiting for the train too?"
"No I am not, because my train is here,"
yet she pointed at her heavy books

"Oh, but those aren't train,"
I said confusely.
"It is to me. They are the train to my dreams,"
I smiled and asked
where will she go with those "train".
"The north," she said, while jumping into a wagon.
It took her to the south.

I saw her today
while I was waiting for the train.
She went south, not north.
I am going to the north.

She was cheerful, although seemed tired by her day.
Her lover has waited
in the end of the railway.
"He is not your lover," I said.
"He is," she insisted. "For now."
"Your lover is in the north," I told her.
She smiled shyly and looked at her books again.

I thought she agreed with me.
Her heart longed for somewhere else
and those foreign books are her train
to reach that somewhere else.

"You're going north," she said, realizing my destination.
"Are you happy?"
Silence fell between us.
"A little," I said, while jumping on my full train wagon.
To the north.

I waved at her today.
We stood on different platforms.
I knew her very well,
yet I couldn't destroy her dream.
"Stop your dream.
Your happiness is still faraway."
